On March 16, Alice Faye Dortch, 82, went home to be with our Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness.

Born of the late James and Maggie Harrell on September 2, 1939, in Aulander NC

Her earlier years were spent as a daughter of a simple sharecropper, she never dreamed that she would travel around the world touching all those she met.   She was a service wife, homemaker, entrepreneur, Pentecostal Minister, and missionary, spreading the word of God in Africa.   However, she deemed her greatest accomplishment as that of a wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.  She was an inspiration to those who knew her and never met a stranger.  Her name “Alice” means noble and light.   She truly lived up to her name, as her smile would bring light into the darkest times. She was known as a kind soul, providing loving words of wisdom and comfort to hurting hearts.  Alice was a great prayer warrior and prayed over her family daily.

The family finds comfort in scripture and knowing Alice is in the loving arms of Jesus.

Brothers and Sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.   1 Thessalonians 4:13

Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Earl Dortch, her parents, brothers, sisters and Grandsons, Sean Joseph Robert Dortch and Robert Alan Bolick.

Left to Cherish her memory are a daughter Valerie Gitt, husband Mark, sons, James Dortch, wife Cindy, Daniel Dortch, wife Dee. grandchildren; Brandon Bolick, wife Amanda, Nicholas Bolick, Emry Daniel, Zachary Daniel, Daniel Dortch, Jared Daniel, Amber Dortch, Thomas Dortch. great grandchildren: Noah Bolick, Jackson Bolick, Owen Bolick.

The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice for the love and care they provided.  They are truly angels.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 6-8 pm, at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A luncheon will be held on March 26, 11 am at Higher Ground Church for the immediate family, with service at 1pm, followed by interment at Sunnyside Cemetery, Scotland Neck, NC.

I Did not know Alice but I served with her Son in the military. Her Son was a Good and Dependable Soldier with a Kind Heart. I knew he had a Good Upbringing and I can see his Mother had allot to do with that. Condolences from Me and my Family, All of You are in Our Daily Prayers. God Bless.
