Alton Byrd Long, 80, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2008 at Hobgood Cemetery in Hobgood. The Reverend Billy Poteat will be presiding.
Alton retired from the Halifax Hosiery Mill in Scotland Neck after 30 years and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his beloved wife, Viola.
Alton was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Hopkins Long; and daughter, Joyce Kamofonik.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Daniels and wife Edith of Bartow, FL and David Hackney and wife Gina of Arcadia, FL; six grandchildren, Melvin Hoke of Laurel, MD, Tonya Friend and husband John of Grimesland, and Patrick Hackney, Heather Lowe and husband Steve, Hollie Hackney, and Michael Hackney all of Arcadia, FL; and long time friends, Adrian May and Mike Harrell both of Scotland Neck.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
