RICH SQUARE, NC – Alvin Henry Batchelor, Sr., age 78, passed away on August 4, 2020 at the Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.
Mr. Batchelor was born in Jones County, NC, on April 10, 1942, a son of the late Travis Henry and Nina Yates Batchelor. Alvin had a real passion and love for his work as an electrician and plumber, being president, owner and operator of A&H Electrical and Plumbing Service. He was a retired fireman with the Rich Square Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for many years. Alvin was a 33rd Degree Mason and an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a longtime, faithful member of Rich Square Baptist Church. Alvin was a caring, loving man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Hilda Mills Batchelor, a daughter, Debra B. Malcolm and husband, Charles of Sacramento, CA; a son, Alvin Henry Batchelor Jr. and wife, Julie of Snow Hill, NC; four grandchildren, Christian Malcolm, Nicole Malcolm, Austin Batchelor, and Jackson Batchelor; two brothers, Douglas Batchelor and wife, Dorothy of Washington, NC, and Anthony Batchelor and wife, Brenda of Huntingdon, PA; and a sister, Dorless Easley and husband, Gerald of Melbourne Beach, FL.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 7, 2020, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Rich Square Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Rich Square, NC and other times at the home. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am at the church with the Rev. Bob Rogers and Rev. Bob Young officiating. The service will conclude with Masonic Rites.

Hilda and family, we are so sorry to read that Alvin had passed. He is in a much better place now but that does not make the pain of loosing a loved one any less. Please know our thought and prayers are with you and the family. We were so glad to have you guys in our home with our classmates. A great time with lots of memories that we will always cherish. You have those special memories as well of a dear husband, father, grandfather and friend. Our Lord will never leave you and He is with you now in this time of life. Love in Christ.
I am Lois Jones Tharrington from Trenton, now from Greensboro. My sisters and I went to school with Alvin. Our parents were also good friends of Travis and Nina Mae. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and know all of his family will miss him greatly. Please extend my sympathy to Doug and Anthony also. Will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.
