I did not know Mr. Alvin that well but I think he was well thought of in the community. I remember his wife, Mrs. Shirley from years ago when I was growing up with their 2 children, Ricky & Debbie. Mrs. Shirley was very nice & she sadly left this world way too soon from that deathly thing called cancer. Mr. Alvin & Mrs. Shirley had 2 good, decent, kind & friendly children to always be proud of & I have no doubt that they indeed were. I had the good fortune to grow up with the two of them in this special community called “Elm Grove”. Ricky & I live near each other so I still get to share some of our Adulthood together. I had not seen Debbie, Ricky’s sister in years until last year at their Uncle Brodie’s funeral. Debbie looked about the same, she hadn’t aged that much & she was the same ole Debbie that I remembered. You just don’t forget those dear childhood friends that you grew up with because they are a part of your precious memories. I will miss seeing Mr. Alvin’s little white truck coming by the end of my lane on his way to Mrs. Virgie’s house. I am so glad that Mr. Alvin had someone at 90 years old & ever how many past years to share his life with, they were a blessing to one another. I express my deepest sympathy to each & every family member & all of his dear friends.
