COMO, NC – Annie Laurie Casper Chitty Griffith, age 92, of Como, passed away on April 2, 2021 in Rich Square Health Care Center, Rich Square, NC.

Mrs. Griffith was born in Bertie County, NC on April 30, 1928, a daughter of the late James Robert and Blannie Lee Casper Casper. Annie Laurie was a homemaker who although she had no children of her own, was proud to be the mother of her stepdaughters, loving and caring for them as if they were her own. Annie and her husband, Edward, loved sharing with others, whether it was produce from the garden or their time helping neighbors and friends with projects. She found much pleasure in cooking for other people and was famous for her homemade pickles, potato salad, coconut cake, and most of all her peanut butter fudge. Annie Laurie was a active member of Buckhorn Baptist church where she was a member of their WMU and helped with Vacation Bible School as long as her health permitted. She was a kind, generous spirit who will be missed by all who knew her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Herbert Chitty, and Edward H. Griffith, her brothers, James Henry Casper, Joseph Lloyd Casper, Emmett Cale Casper, Roy Franklin Casper, and half-brother, Robert Casper, and half-sister, Christine Drew.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Delores Griffith and husband, Ben of Plymouth, NC, Barbara G. Moss and husband, Billy of Zebulon, NC, Nancy G. Revelle of Como, NC; two granddaughters, Renee Currin and husband Lynn of Zebulon, Brandy Revelle of Jackson, NC; and a grandson, Robbie Ferrell and wife, Raquel of Houston, TX; three great granddaughters, McKenzie House, Isabella Ferrell, and Autumn Vann; two great grandsons, Daniel Piner and Mason Ferrell; and a great great grandson, Abel House.  Also surviving is a special sister-in-law, Fannie W. Casper and several special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, in the sanctuary at Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, NC, prior to the celebration of life service at 2:00 pm in the church, with Rev. Bob Deacon officiating.  A private family interment will be at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made in her memory directly to Buckhorn Baptist Church, P.O. Box 67, Como, NC, 27818; or online by clicking here or to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX, 75284-0692 or online by clicking here

Loved the times you took me to Como to eat her famous potato salad and pickles and your dad’s fried chicken. Afterwards we would watch Young and Restless. Good food and good folks!
