AHOSKIE – Archie Wayne Johnson, age 63, of Hall Siding Road, died Thursday, November 24, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Mr. Johnson was born in Southampton County, VA, on November 13, 1948, a son of the late Archie and Virginia Clary Johnson. He attended Ahoskie Church of God and worked as a welder and equipment operator.

Left ot cherish his memory is his wife, Peggy Baggett Johnson; three sons, Archie Wayne Johnson, Jr., Brian Keith Johnson, and Christopher Lee Johnson, all of Ahoskie; three sisters, Dorothy Hall and Linda Curcio, both of Ahoskie, and Ann White of Suffolk, VA; two brothers, Rev. Raleigh Johnson and Henry Earl Johnson, both of Ahoskie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Lenzie Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jr., Devin Johnson, Tucker Johnson and Tyler Shaver.

The family will receive friends at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home on Saturday, November 26th, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home. A celebration of life service will be conducted at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home on Sunday, November 27, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Wall and Rev. Raleigh Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Aulander Cemetery.

To Peggy & Sons,

Wayne was such a Great Husband, Father,Grandpa & Friend especially to my “Wayne”all those years – Hold onto to the memories and remember his isn’t here with us physically but he will always be a part of all of you.Cherish all the memories and know that he loved each one of you!!!We may have lost him but heaven gained another special “Angel” and he will be watching over everyone from above.

So sorry for your loss. I was there at the receptionist desk that night that Mr. Johnson passed away. I left work feeling such sorrow for your family. I know your loved one will be truly missed. My heart goes out to you today.

i have sweet memories of wayne.he used to visit my mom and she loved him like a son.i know they are rejoicing in heaven. he was a wonderful caring man and will be missed. rest in peace good man wayne,god didnt make many like you. prayers going out for his family.
