AULANDER, NC – Barbara Ann Terry Trail, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away on February 15, 2024, at the age of 85.

She was born on September 19, 1938, in Hertford County, North Carolina, to the late Redden Terry and Eula Outlaw Terry. Barbara dedicated her life to her family as a loving homemaker, nurturing her children and creating a warm and welcoming home for them. Barbara had a deep love for her church and loved to read the Bible. She held a special place in her heart for her cats, providing them with endless affection and care. Above all, Barbara cherished her large family, finding joy in spending time with each and every one of them. Her genuine love and support will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Barbara Ann Terry Trail’s legacy lives on through the love and memories she shared with her family. She will forever be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, and her presence will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandson, Shawn Linkous, her great-granddaughter, Amity Brent, her sisters, Naomi Cooke, Mary Della Pierce, and Blonnie Joyner, and her brother, Ellis Gene Terry.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Query (Dennis) of Chesapeake, VA, and Shirley Pamela Osborne of Aulander; her son, Ricky King of Chesapeake, VA; four grandsons, Wayne Linkous, Mark Williams (Mary), Devin Williams, and Justin Osborne; five granddaughters, Trinity McKenney (Steve), Melissa Linkous, Tishia King Vaughan (Phillip), Amber King Overton (Leonard), and Sesta Church; five great-granddaughters, Daylene Kast, Haley Linkous, Natalia Blankenship, Gloria Church, and Aubry Vaughan; Six great-grandsons, Xavier McKenney, Jaden Linkous, Hunter Overton, Brandon Overton, Matthew Overton, and Phillip Vaughan; two great great-granddaughters, Aurora Kast, and Anna Crumine; one great great-grandson, Stevie Kast; two brothers, Redden “Reggie” Terry and Robert Terry (Laverne); along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC, with Pastor Greg Hurdle officiating.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Barbara’s special nieces, Rhonda, Renee, and Kathy, and her great friend and neighbor, Jessica for their love and care shown to her over the last few years.
