AHOSKIE, NC – Barbara Anne Casper, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Accordius Health at Creekside Care in Ahoskie, NC.
Barbara was born on January 7, 1945 to Daniel Casper and Celia Mae Phelps Harmon in Hertford County, NC. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend that cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. Barbara was a devoted member of Early’s Baptist Church and was very active in the Women’s Ministries. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gospel music, hummingbirds, and collecting ceramic roosters. Barbara loved poetry and knew just how to put the right words together. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Casper. Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are two sons; Marcus Casper and wife Ruth of Ahoskie, and Daniel Casper and wife Susan of Ahoskie; grandson, Brendan Casper; granddaughter, Caitlin Casper; sister, Brenda Baird and husband Reggie of Roanoke Rapids, NC; dear friend, Diane Bryant; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home of her son, Marc.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 2:00 pm at the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Troy Bordeaux, Rev. Paul Ange, and Rev. Dr. Jesse Croom officiating.

Mama , I was so blessed that God chose you to be my mother . I will do everything in my power to continue the legacy you have set & I hope to be half as good a parent to Caitlin as you have been to me . We love you & are thankful that you are not battling the dementia any longer . You are with King Jesus , Glory indeed has come in the morning.

Marc, Danny and Family, Ann will surely be missed. I remember how she and my Mom (Dorothy Ambrose) used to sit and laugh and talk and enjoy each other’s company so much. And after Mom’s passing Ann and I would still see each other and she still had that pleasant personality and smile. I am so sorry for your loss and may God wrap his loving arms around each of you and give you comfort.
