WINTON, NC – Barbara Ann Owens, age 75, of Odette Lane, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Accordius Health at Creekside Care of Ahoskie, NC.
Barbara was born on July 17, 1945 to Lonnie Beecher and Nettie White Cooke in Hertford County, NC. Barbara was a hard working mother that loved her son dearly. She spent her life as a hairdresser in the Roanoke Chowan area. She was always full of life and her smile could brighten up any room she walked into. Barbara was loved by many and will be deelpy missed by her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Beecher Cooke, sister, Clara Harrell, niece, Claudia Jean Harrell, and great-niece, Caycee.
Left to cherish Barbara’s memory is her beloved, son, Michael Owens and girl friend, Barbara of Ahoskie; grandson, Brandon Owens; sister-in-law, Diane Cooke; three nieces, Cindy Konig, Debbie Jenkins, and Lynn Cantrell; two nephews, Bob Cooke, and Rupert Harrell, Jr.; three great-nieces, Rebecca Snook, Tabatha Riggs, Candace Gearheart; five great-nephews, Travis Harrell, Marty Harrell, Logan Jenkins, Jordy Jenkins, and Gage Cooke; great-great niece, Faith Riggs; and two great-great nephews, Dakota Gearheart, and Peyton Konig; along with many clients and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 11, 2020, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Pastor Mike Blowe officiating.

Barbara was such a sweet person. I remember very well how she would come to Entertainment Connection Video Store when it was in Ahoskie to get a movie. She would call and ask me to find her some good movies because she always like the ones i suggested. She will be long missed but never forgotten.
Barbara was one of the sweetest women that I ever met. I met her 43 years ago in Aulander. I love you and will miss you. to all the family i am so sorry for your loss.
