Barbara Morris Perry, age 76, died Friday, January 31, 2014, at her home, only seventeen hours after the death of her beloved husband, Thomas E. Perry.
Mrs. Perry was born in Bertie County on October 7, 1937, a daughter of the late Sebron and Foy Jernigan Morris. She was a member of Republican Baptist Church and was retired as an art teacher from Bertie County public schools. Barbara enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts as was evident by her home and garden.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Carolyn Perry Fornes and husband, Tony of Aulander, NC; two sons, Gary Thomas Perry and wife, Mary of Georgia; and Richard Allen Perry of Ahoskie, NC; her granddaughters, Megan L. Fornes and fiance’ Craig of Lewiston-Woodville, NC; and Brooke Elise Mitzke of Florida. Also surviving are sisters, Sybil M. Mitchell of Rich Square, NC, Margie M. Liverman and Marie M. Harrell, both of Ahoskie, NC, and Edna M. Matthews of Colerain, NC. Besides her parents and husband, Barbara was predeceased by several siblings.
Mrs. Barbara Perry was a loving person and a true joy with which to work. She was a credit to the West Bertie School Community and an individual who left a lasting imprint on my life.
Euric L. Perry, Former Principal – WBE
I’m so sorry for the loss of your parents. At these times not much can be said to ease the pain. Our loving Heavenly Father will strengthen you and take you by the right hand (Isaiah 41;10). He also promises to bring our loved ones back to life again in the resurrection (John 5:28,29). Our prayers are with your family.
My prayers and love go out to each of you, sisters, children, and grandchildren. I pray God gives you strength and I know He will. Love all of you. Dorothy
