MURFREESBORO, NC – Barbarette Barnes Warren, age 80, passed away on September 14, 2020 at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC, with her family by her side.

Mrs. Warren was born in Northampton County on October 4, 1939, a daughter of the late Stanley and Hazel Smith Barnes. Barbarette was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting family first. She and her husband George enjoyed eating out and she loved telling stories of her retail selling days at Evans Company and as store manager of Peebles in Murfreesboro. Barbarette was a longtime, faithful member of Meherrin Baptist Church where she served unselfishly in several capacities over the years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Besides her parents, Barbarette was preceded in death by her son, George Stanton “Stan” Warren, and a grandson, Brandon Warren.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband, George Clayton Warren, Jr.; her grandson, Tucker Warren and fiancé’, Kasara Lear of Charlotte, NC; her sister, Judy B. Ward and husband, Jim of Ahoskie, NC; two brothers, Stanley Barnes and wife, Eileen of Murfreesboro, NC, and Don Barnes and wife, Judy of Pendleton, NC; a sister-in-law, Marianna B. Long and husband, Elbert of Conway, NC; and daughter-in-law, Michelle Warren of Murfreesboro, NC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2020, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, NC, and other times at the home.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a private, family only celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. John Porter officiating.
