I’m sad to hear this news. Betty was always so sweet and kind to me. A beautiful lady with a wonderful smile and infectious laughter. My heart goes out to all the family. Love, hugs, and prayers to all of you.
Betty graduated with my class at Ahoskie High School in 1968. She was always so sweet and kind. We lost touch after high school but I will always have fond memories of her. God bless and comfort her family.
As Tommy Godwin posted earlier, Bettie’s smile could elicit one from you in return. In fact, I recall Bettie smiling most all of the time due to the happiness and goodness from within her heart. She was a sweet classmate, honest, and always helpful and giving. I express with heart felt sentiment my condolences to her family.
Also a cousin and a friend. I sat on that same front porch, walked that dirt road many times and talked to Aunt Elsie and Uncle Rueben about everything. They were never too busy to tell us something. I can hear her laugh right now and see her smiling. I guarantee us all that she is with her Mama and Daddy and they are making up for lost time. Rest easy, my friend, job well done. I love you Abby and Angie.
Bettie was a wonderful person, she could always put a smile on your face with her smile. We had some fun times in high school. Thank you Bettie.
Angela and Abby, 4/5/2018
Garth and I are deeply saddened by your loss. I have warm memories of your lovely mother. She always seemed to have a good word and a smile. May your memories comfort you.
We regret we will be unable to meet you and your family on Wednesday. We have an out- of- town doctor’s appointment.
Very sorry about your loss at this time.
Where to start, I met Betty through the friendship my Amanda shared with Abby. We spent many happy and sunfilled days at the 65 Swim Club, trading off children for the day and enjoying fun in the sun as she and I both enjoyed a lot of that. I remember how we used to tease her about getting her hair wet and some of the dads like Paul Pearce and David Lane we threaten to get her hair wet. She was always a good sport about it and we enjoyed a lot of fun and laughs back in those days when you girls were younger. Life takes it turns and Betty and I had not spent that time in many years but the memories I will always hold special in my heart. She was a beautiful lady inside and out and I am truly sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you, she left us much too soon, but i know her smile and laughter is lighting up heaven now.
Betty also played for Hickory Chapel church when she was in her teens. She was in my family and my mother use to help her parents with grading tobacco. Ms Elsie and my mom was double first cousins.
Your death was a big shock. A big loss for the family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sorry for your loss. Betty was a very sweet and kind person.
