CONWAY, NC – Billy Vinson Davis, 84, of Maple Avenue, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Davis was born on April 4, 1937, to Raymond E. Davis and Judith Vinson Davis in Northampton County, NC. Born and raised in Northampton County, Billy served his country in the National Guard and worked as a traffic coordinator for Union Camp until his retirement. He was a dedicated, lifelong Carolina fan and anyone that knew Billy, knew he took the Tarheels very seriously. Billy enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, gardening, reading his history and western US books as well as attending sporting events for his grandchildren. He and Peggy enjoyed traveling with friends throughout the United States after his retirement for as long as they were able to. Billy was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Along with his parents, Billy was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Frances Davis, and brothers, William E. Davis, Harry Byrd Davis, and Joseph E. Davis.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Peggy, two daughters, Judith Lynn Davis Edwards and husband Jimmy of Seaboard, and Carol Michelle Davis Stivers and husband Jerry of Capron, VA; a son, Phillip Vinson Davis, and wife Betsy of Conway; Granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Edwards of Cary; three grandsons, Ryan Clayton Davis, Dale Christian Davis both of Conway, and John Davis Stivers of Capron, VA; a sister, Mary Davis Drake, and husband George of Newsoms, VA.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Conway Baptist Church, Conway, NC, with the Rev. Willie McLawhorn, officiating. Burial will follow in Conway Cemetery.

I am so sorry about Billy. I worked with him in Transportation at UCC for several years. We enjoyed teasing each other about Tarheels vs Wahoos and placing fun bets on the games. Praying for comfort for each of you. Anne
