MURFREESBORO, NC – Brenda Bailey Futrell, age 71, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.
A native of Hertford County, Mrs. Futrell was born on November 8, 1947 to Ollie M. and Lessie Hatfield Bailey in Como, NC. Brenda was a devoted member of Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church and loved her church. She enjoyed being a homemaker and cherished taking care of her family. Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a great cook, liked to read, loved flowers, enjoyed working in the garden, always taking the time to watch the soap operas, especially The Young and the Restless, and was an avid UNC and DUKE basketball fan. Brenda loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Besides her parents, Brenda was predeceased by two sisters; Olie May Culpepper and Doris Bryant, a brother, C.C. Bailey and a nephew, Bobby Bailey.
Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, Milton of the home, three sons, Greer Martin Futrell Jr. and wife Angela of Murfreesboro, Gregory Futrell and wife Ginger of Menola, Travis Futrell and wife Stacye of Murfreesboro; three step-daughters, Linda Pinion and husband Jeff of Oak Ridge, NC, Ann Braud and husband Kent of Greensboro, NC, Patty Sorguis and husband Aaron of Kernersville, NC; one step-son, Mike Futrell and wife Michelle of Asheboro, NC; a sister, Patsy Parker of Franklin, VA, a brother, Wayne Bailey and wife Judy of Franklin, VA; 16 grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, NC and other times at the home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at 2:00 pm at the Ashleys Grove Baptist Church, Conway, NC, with David Ross, officiating. Burial will follow at Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery in Como, NC.

Condolences to all who knew and loved Brenda – she was a great person with a contagious humor that I’ll always remember. She loved her family and showed it constantly with her thoughts and deeds.
