Mr. Burcher Barmer, age 88 died on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at his home. Mr. Barmer was born to the late Alma and Arthur Barmer. Mr. Barmer was a long time devoted employee to the Parker Manufacturing Company before retiring as a supervisor. Upon retiring Mr. Barmer returned to work part time and also enjoyed gardening. Mr. Barmer was loved and will be missed by many.
Along with his parents preceding him in death was his wife, Annie Harrison, four sisters; Lillie Mae, Bell, Shirley and Betty Marie, and one brother, Jimmy C. Barmer.
Left to cherish Mr. Barmer’s memory is four daughters; Margaret Ann Barmer of the home, Catherine Emory and her husband Wesley of Woodland, Maxine Hoggard and her friend George Casper of Woodland and Jo Ann Uzzell and her husband Steve of Scotland Neck, one sister, Doris Wheeler and her husband Roy of Christina, Tennessee, along with grandchildren, Michelle Spence and her husband Doug of Aulander, Chad Hoggard and friend Shelley of Murfreesboro, Steven Hoggard and Ashley of Raleigh, Scott Uzzell and wife Anna of Williamston, Elizabeth Lilley and husband Ben or Tarboro, and great grandchildren, Austin, Cole, Jaelynn and Jenna Hoggard, Harrison and Clayton Spence and Connor King, also a dear neighbor and friend Sam Golson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 2 PM at the Woodland Baptist Church in Woodland with Dr. Trey Gilliam officiating. The interment will follow and Woodland Cemetery in Woodland.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7:00-8:30 PM at Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square.
