COLERAIN, NC – Carolyn Taylor Brown, age 74, of Colerain, passed away on October 23, 2017 at the Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.
Mrs. Brown was born in Bertie County, NC, on September 28, 1943 a daughter of the late Hilary Carlton “Bud” and Hazel Perry Taylor. Carolyn earned her B.S. Degree in Special Education from East Carolina University and taught Special Education in the Hertford County Public School System for over 35 years. She was a faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees including the House and Grounds Committee and the Pastor Search Committee. Carolyn enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, water aerobics, and raising her backyard menagerie of chickens and ducks, and sharing her eggs with her neighbors. Carolyn was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed nothing more than visits and stay overs from her grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carroll Glenn “Skip” Brown, and her brother, Carlton “C.P.” Taylor.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Dee Brown Worrells and husband, Roy of Harrellsville, NC; her son, Bradley Carroll Brown and wife, Penny, of Colerain, NC; her sister, Danise Taylor Harrell of Colerain, NC; three granddaughters, Hannah Kate Worrells of Harrellsville, NC, Brook Ellyn Brown, and Sumner Carol Brown of Colerain, NC; and a grandson, Mason McConey Worrells of Harrellsville, NC.
The family will receive friends at the home.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Mars Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, NC, with Rev. Billy Presley and Rev. Gary Mickey, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.
