Peggy: I booked the Earl Theatre for many years at Piedmont Theatres. When I started
my own company , Rudy continued with me to book the theatre. I can remember talking with Carroll every Monday to go over his bookings for the following Fridays. He had such pride in his work . Seems so long ago but we always enjoyed our phone conversations and the few times we saw each other at meetings. He always was so proud of you as a wife and of your nursing career. You and I had seen each other over that time also 3 or 4 times. Hope you are doing ok and I will be praying for you and your family.
Sorry for the loss of Mr. Carrol. I remember the theatre days and the popcorn smell. Miss all that. He is going to be missed as well. Very nice man.
may God be with each and everyone of you I will surely keep you in my prayers Carol was one of a kind
Carroll was one the nicest persons who I have ever known. When he retired from the Earl Theater, the place was never the same as he had been there most of his life and had helped so many people there. Ahoskie just will not be the same without Carroll Askew. Here’s hoping that his family will find peace knowing that his community has a great admiration and respect for him and for his tireless service to the community.
My deepest sympathy to the Askew family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
if you ever visited the Earl Theater years ago, you were as certain to see Mr Askew as you were to smell the popcorn. Although the theater has been closed for many years, Mr Askew was a local icon, who will be greatly missed, just as the Earl has been. Prayers for Mrs Peggy, Jennifer, “little Carroll” and the rest of the family.
CARROLL ASKEW WAS ONE OF NICEST PEOPLE YOU WOULD EVER HOPE TO KNOW. HE WAS DEVOTED TO HIS GOD, FAMILY, JOB & AHOSKIE RESCUE SQUAD. HE JUST HAD A LOVE FOR HIS FELLOW MAN. CARROLL WILL BE TRULY MISSED BY ALL OF US THAT KNEW HIM. TO THE FAMILY I EXTEND MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL OF YOU. MAY GOD HOLD YOU CLOSE IN HIS ARMS GIVING YOU PEACE & COMFORT.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. We love you all!
RIP Mr.Carroll, you will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family!! Loved and miss the theater so much!! RIP Mr. Earl
