Charlotte Florence Jenkins Conner

RICH SQUARE, NC – Charlotte Florence Jenkins Conner, age 84, passed away on April 9, 2018 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC with her family by her side.

Mrs. Conner was born on September 12, 1933 to Berry and Rena Allen Jenkins in the Milwaukee community of Northampton County, North Carolina. Florence was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Florence also liked to embroider, play bingo at the Senior Center, and going to Claudine’s Restaurant for a meal as long as her health permitted. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Wayne Conner, and her brothers and sisters.

Florence is survived by three daughters, Nelda Helmer and husband Gary of Rich Square, Anita Blythe of Rich Square, and Teresa Duke and husband Billy of Conway, NC; a granddaughter, Amanda Helmer of Rich Square; a grandson, Colby Duke of Conway; special niece and caregiver, Peggy Jenkins Aston of Milwaukee, NC, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC and other times at the home of her daughter Anita.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at11:00 am at the Rich Square Baptist Church, Rich Square, NC, with the Rev. Bob Rogers, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
