AHOSKIE, NC – Christopher Allen Jernigan, age 30, passed away on April 29, 2021, in Stanly County, NC.
Mr. Jernigan was born in Pitt County, NC, on January 17, 1991, the son of Michael Allen Jernigan and Mary Ann Evans. Christopher was always known as a hard worker with great work ethic and excelled at his job as a heavy equipment operator. When he wasn’t working, Christopher loved spending time with his family, especially his grandmother. They shared such a special bond and he made sure she was always taken care of. Christopher was a great cook, loved kids and was always there to lift someone up when they were feeling down. He always put everyone before himself and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Spencer Allen Jernigan, and his maternal grandparents, Roger Lee Evans and Elizabeth Futrell Evans.
Christopher is survived by his father, Michael Allen Jernigan of Elm City, NC; his mother, Mary Ann Evans and fiancé Wesley Francis, of Murfreesboro; three sons, Zackary Tyler Jernigan of Lincolnton, NC, Brody Allen Jernigan of Jacksonville, NC, and Harlen Gage Saturday of Ahoskie, NC; two sisters, Melissa Ann Jernigan of Swannanoa, NC, and Madilyn Jernigan of Windsor, NC; four brothers, Nicholas Jernigan of Windsor, NC, Carlos Gregorio Esquivel of Murfreesboro, NC, Lukas Jernigan of Jacksonville, FL, and Michael Allen Jernigan, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; and his paternal grandmother, Teresa Adams and husband, Rodney of Fremont, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021, at 11:00 am at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
