MURFREESBORO, NC – On Tuesday March 5th, 2019, just six days shy of being one century old, Claud Marion King peacefully slipped away from his earthly home. Claud was born in Dallas, Texas on March 11th, 1919. He was a loving husband to his wife of 79 years, Bates Stephenson King.

As a dedicated Navy Chief Petty Officer for 20 years, Claud fought in the Pacific during World War Two. He later worked as an electrician for 25 years at Union Camp in Franklin, Virginia. Claud was an extraordinary example of a hardworking, dedicated, God fearing man who loved his wife and family unconditionally.
Claud was predeceased by his mother and father, Claude and Mary Alma, and three siblings. Five generations are left behind to carry out the legacy of this wonderful man. He is survived by his wife Bates, his only daughter Betty (Ted), two granddaughters Cindy (Todd) and Betty Jo (Jeffery), four great-grandchildren Clay, Andrew (Amanda), Mary Catherine (Cullen), and Emily, as well as three great-great-grandchildren Blake, Harper, and Bennett.
