Clifton Thomas “Pookie” Hearn age 57, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Accordius Health Center in Scotland Neck, NC.
Pookie was born in Halifax County on December 8, 1960 to Robert and the late Kay Frances Baker Hearn. He grew up in Scotland Neck and attended Scotland Neck High School.
He began his career as a lineman for the Town of Scotland Neck where he worked for a number of years. Following his work with the town of Scotland Neck, Pookie went to work for Tideland EMC in Engelhard, NC, finishing his career with the Town of Clayton, NC. He grew up a member of Hope Free Will Baptist Church of Scotland Neck, NC. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and crab potting. Pookie loved gardening and sharing his vegetables. He had many friends, loved his family and held them very dear.
Clifton is preceded in death by his mother; his wife, Judy Marshall Hearn; and his brother, Jake Hearn. He is survived by his son, Justin Hearn of Chocowinity, NC; father, Robert Hearn and his wife Sandra Lee of Williamston, NC; sister, Sissy Hearn Stewart and husband Jimmy of Scotland Neck, NC; brother, Dale Hearn of Gaston, NC; two grandsons; Alex and J.T. Hearn; aunt, Betty “Bet” King; niece, Amanda Hearn; three nephews: Jimmy Ray Stewart, Jr., Austin Stewart, and Tyler Hearn; great nephew, Daniel Kelly; stepsister, Linda Byrum and her husband Henry; and two stepbrothers: Michael Lee and his wife Shirley and Vernon Lee and his wife Tammy.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Hearn Family Cemetery, 12741 Highway 258, Scotland Neck, NC. The family will receive friends following the service and any other time at the home of Sissy and Jimmy Stewart.
