WOODLAND, NC – Connie Gail Edwards Piland, age 68, of Lasker Golf Course Road, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 27, 2022 after a long battle with sickness.
Mrs. Piland was born on July 28, 1953 to the late Charles Mebane Edwards and Margaret Bolton Edwards in Ahoskie, NC. Connie worked as the manager for SAFE for many years. She enjoyed being there for abused women in need. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. Connie will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Connie is survived by her loving husband Carl, her daughter, Margaret Leigh Piland of Woodland; her son, Clay Piland and wife Tammy of Ahoskie, a brother, Mike Edwards and wife Karen of Lebanon, SC; three granddaughters, Carly, Casey, and Cally Piland all of Ahoskie; three nephews, Christopher Edwards and wife Emily, Joshua Piland, and Cole Piland; four nieces, Kristin Barrineau and husband Jason, Courtney Edwards Pierce and husband Aaron, Camryn Piland, and Meagan Piland Overman and husband West; a special cousin, Scarlette Norris; along with numerous great nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family will have a celebration of life memorial service later this summer.

I really got a little closer to her when she helped me with the process of becoming a volunteer at the Safe House! She really had a huge heart and it really showed!
