COLERAIN, NC – Darvin Taylor Davidson, age 89, passed away on June 12, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Davidson was born in Bertie County, NC, on September 9, 1929, a son of the late Herman Earl and Ruby Taylor Davidson. Darvin was a faithful, lifetime member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, where he served his church in many capacities over the years.  He had many hobbies, but he most enjoyed raising, catching, and cooking catfish.  Darvin enjoyed sharing his catch with friends and neighbors and teaching them how to filet.  He was a hard-working farmer and a loving family man, who in the words of his children ” was the best Dad ever”.

Besides his parents, Darvin was preceded in death by a son, Wynn Davidson and granddaughter Sarah Peede.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Clara Brantley Davidson, three sons, Glenn Davidson and wife, Vicki, Joey Davidson and wife, Becky,  and Ernie Davidson and wife Ruth, all of Colerain, NC; two daughters, Karen D. Peede and husband, Anthony of Ahoskie, NC, and Audrey D. Blowe and husband, Doug of Colerain, NC; eight grandsons, Jason Davidson, Kevin Davidson, William Davidson, Buddy Davidson, Will Davidson, David Peede, Ben Blowe, and Cameron Blowe; two granddaughters, Leeann Lloyd, and Stephanie Peede; and a brother, Herman Earl Davidson and wife, Margaret of Colerain, NC, and nine great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 11:00 am, at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Al Hughson and Rev. Channon Brinkley, officiating.

I am saddened to learn of Mr Darvin’s passing. I had known him for as long as I can remember, having grown up in the Trap/Mars Hill community. I have many memories of Mr Darvin, the fondest being him and some of the other men from the community seated around the heater inside the little country store at Trap sharing a good laugh or discussing farming and other community news. Prayers and thoughts to Mrs Clara Lee and the family. Audrey, I am thinking of you.
