NASHVILLE, NC – David “Dave” Brian Hill, age 68, of Morning Mist Court, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at his home with his wife and sister in law Trudy Braxton by his side.

Mr. Hill was born on October 16, 1954 to Robert Hill and the late Shirley Williams Hill in Auburn, NY. Dave grew up on the family dairy farm in New York. His love of agriculture and the cows continued through life leading to a career as an agriculture appraiser. He also enjoyed  competing with his dad in judging show cows. He was a member of Elbridge Community Church and a graduate of Cornell University. He was an avid Syracuse fan, however he especially loved Syracuse basketball, always making time to watch those games on television. Dave loved his yard, planting flowers, it was always top priority to have his yard looking the best it possibly could. He was a kind, gentle man that cherished his grandchildren, especially the annual trips to Myrtle Beach in the summer and playing with them in the pool and watching them play sports. Dave was known for his dry sense of humor. He was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of eleven years, Kay, two daughters, Jennifer Hill Woody (Jonathan), and Sarah Elizabeth Hill, both of Camillus, NY; a step-son, Brooks Bunting (Rebecca) of Rocky Mount, NC; three grandchildren, Jackson, Jordan, and Julia Woody; brother, Robert Hill, III (Barbara) of Elbridge, NY; and two sisters, Susan Critz (Mark) of Londondarry, New Hampshire, and Diane Ellis (Dave) of Torrington, Connecticut.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service-Letchworth Chapel in Scotland Neck, NC with a graveside funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at the Baptist Cemetery in Scotland Neck with Rev. Paul Spradley officiating.

Kay, I am sorry for your loss. I will always remember the Rabo Appraisal Tour he organized and hosted. Appraisal gatherings were more fun when Dave was present. He has been and will be always missed.

Sorry for your loss. Fond memories of my prom date. Dave taught me how to drive on his Dads brand new Cutlass. Almost crashed it.

Kay, Bob and Rob,
I had the privilege of growing up and then working with Dave. I respected his knowledge of agriculture and his commitment to doing the right thing. He was unshakable! He suffered a long time, as well as those closest to him. I trust he is at peace. He will be missed. Seldom found are people like him. My condolences to the family.
