AULANDER, NC – David Kenneth “Kenny” Byrd, age 71, of Early Station Road, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2021, at the Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.
Mr. Byrd was born on March 7, 1950, to David Ashley Byrd and Evelyn Lee Parker Byrd in Ahoskie, NC. He served his country in the National Guard for six years. Kenny worked as a foreman for Easco Aluminum for many years and has since enjoyed landscaping and mowing grass. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting and fishing. Kenny always had a story to tell and was the life of the party. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, spending countless hours doing what he loved best, watching them play softball and baseball on the diamond. Kenny was a loving husband, deddy, granddeddy, son, brother, friend and will be greatly missed. Kenny was preceded in death by his father.
David is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara, his mother, Evelyn Byrd, his daughter, Pam Byrd Cale and husband Daniel; granddaughter, Amber Cale; grandson, Parker Cale, all of Aulander; two brothers, Ronald “Ronnie” Ashley Byrd and wife Anne of Ahoskie, and Maynard Byrd of Aulander.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 3:00 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Willie McLawhorn officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, NC
