AHOSKIE, NC – Delma Whyatt Edwards, age 82, passed away on September 27, 2022 at Accordius Health at Creekside in Ahoskie.

Mr. Edwards was born in Southampton County, VA on March 1, 1940, a son of the late Frank Olin and Ludie Lee Eure Edwards. Delma worked as a Truck Driver for Georgia Pacific for many years and spent his whole life in the trucking industry. He was always willing to help other businesses and friends that needed a truck driver. Delma was a real outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, and especially fishing, watching old westerns and listening to old country music. He was a loving and devoted family man to his wife, children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Mary Davis Edwards, two daughters, Cynthia Lynn Phaby and husband, Chris of Kenly, NC, and Deborah Marie Edwards of Greenville, NC; two sons, Franklin Sawyer Edwards and wife, Anna of Ahoskie, NC, and Daniel Lee Edwards and wife, Jessica of Seaboard, NC; three grandsons, Trevor Edwards, Colby Edwards, and Christian Phaby; two granddaughters, Mattie Edwards, and Kamryn Phaby; and a sister, Betty Ann Earley of Harrellsville, NC.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC prior to a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, with Rev. Ricky Lowery officiating.

Delma and I worked together for many years at Georgia Pacific. He was a good man and a great friend. We drove many miles together. He will be missed by all that knew him. My condolences to his family and friends.

Delma was a great truck driver. We both worked at Georgia Pacific together. He had many million mile plaques from GP. When he was on vacation from G. P. He was driving a truck for someone. I will miss my friend
