HARRELLSVILLE, NC – Dennis Kay Rodgers, age 68, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Rodgers was born on January 11, 1949 to the late James K. and Mildred Mae Green Rodgers in Decatur, AL. Dennis worked as a roofing consultant in Virginia for many years. He was a huge sports fanatic, no matter what sport but his favorites were pulling for his home state of Alabama and the Green Bay Packers. Dennis enjoyed gardening as long as he was able. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Besides his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy O’Neil Daniels Rodgers.
Dennis is survived by two daughters; Sherry Meredith Washington of Hopewell, VA, and Cindy Zinn of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Reid Daniels and wife Jane of Harrellsville, NC; and dear special sister-in-law, Dr. Sheron Dailey and husband Thomas Tucker of Terre Haute, IN.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Stoney Creek Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC by Mr. Jerry Hunnicutt. The family will receive friends following the service at the Harrellsville Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
