She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Along with her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, Warren Spivey and sister, Mary Lou Newsome.

She was my favorite teacher in high. All those vocabulary drills put me ahead in English classes in college. She was always so kind and patient and we all loved her.

So sad to hear about Mrs. Matthews passing. She taught me 9th grade English and 10 years before that taught my sister. She always spoke when I would see her around town and never forgot either of us. She truly cared for her students!

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Matthews passing. She was my favorite high school teacher. I found her to be one of the most challenging and thought provoking teachers. I will never forget how she would write individual comments on our journal entries. I use this personal touch with my own students today. She truly leaves a legacy with all the lives she touched. Much love to the family
