AHOSKIE, NC – Donald Glenn Daniels, lovingly known as Speck, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the age of 76 in Hertford County, the very place he called home since his birth on January 4, 1947.

Speck dedicated many years of his life to serving his community as a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service. His commitment and hard work were unparalleled, making him a respected figure among his colleagues and the community he faithfully served. Beyond his professional life, Speck found joy in various interests. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Creech Memorial Baptist Church, where he found solace and spiritual fulfillment. Additionally, Speck was a proud member of Beechwood Country Club, where he indulged in his passion for golf. He enjoyed spending time with people, forging lifelong friendships along the way. In this time of mourning, may we find solace in the memories shared and the legacy that Speck leaves behind.

Speck is preceded in death by his father, Alvah Daniels, his mother, Ida Mae Todd Daniels, and his sister, Janice M. Daniel. In the wake of his passing, Speck leaves behind a deeply saddened but loving family, including his beloved wife, Yvonne, his sister, Bettie Partee (Phil) of Ohio, and his aunt, Dot Daniels of Roanoke Rapids, NC. He also leaves behind numerous friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Speck’s life during a celebration of life funeral service, to be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel in Ahoskie, NC. Reverend Dr. Wallace Phillips will officiate the service, providing words of comfort and reflection. A private family burial will take place at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Very sad night for me tonight to learn that a friend a golfing friend has passed away and I knew nothing about it until tonight is the first I’ve heard of it from pastor Wallace. No one called me, or even mentioned it to me at the golf course at all kind of makes me very sad. He was a good person. Certainly his humor will be missed. Oh always enjoy being paired and playing with Speck. He was a good person he will be missed.

Yvonne, thank you so much for loving my brother, Glenn. I’m so sorry that our family could not attend the services. With health issues for both Phil and myself, it made it impossible to attend. I know you will miss him as we will. We are praying for you as you begin a new chapter in your life. God bless you sweetie. We will talk again soon. Love you!

There are so many things that flood my mind and heart about Glenn aka Speck. So many fond memories of times spent joking, laughing and talking. To call him and Yvonne friends is a pleasure, to call them family is a greater honor. I’ll be forever grateful for our visit on 10/10. May God continue to bless and strengthen you Yvonne. Job well done.

My beloved Glenn Sleep in peace my brother. You tee’d through this life well.
