AHOSKIE, NC – Earl Gaston Chamblee, 61, of Flea Hill Road, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Vidant North Hospital of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Mr. Chamblee was born on April 25, 1960 to William Thomas Chamblee, Jr. and Nellie Rae Davidson Chamblee in Ahoskie, NC. Earl or better known to many as “Big Earl” found his calling when he started driving 18-wheel trucks, truly enjoying his job as long as his health permitted. He was a food junky and loved to explore for that special “hole in the wall” restaurant with great tasting food. During his time at home he liked to watch television and have his fur babies near him. Big Earl will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Thomas Chamblee, III.

Earl is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Cheryl, a brother, Ray Davidson Chamblee and wife Linda of Ahoskie; a sister, Nellie Sue Chamblee and fiancé Earl Copeland of Cofield; four nephews, Thomas Chamblee and fiancé Kathlyn Rountree of Gates, W. T.  Chamblee, Jack Chamblee and wife Ashley, and Danny Bowden and wife Lea; two nieces, Robin Breller and husband Mark, Wanda Phillips and husband Heath; five great nieces and nephews Cole Phillips, Allie Phillips, Kaley Chamblee, Jonas Chamblee, and Grady Breller, along with his devoted feline fur baby, Marshmallow.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC with a memorial service beginning at 3:00 pm, with Rev. Joshua Prosser officiating.

Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel is handling the arrangements for the Chamblee family and online condolences can be directed to the family by visiting www.garrettsykesfs.com.
