Earl Sorie, 84, died Thursday, October 16, 2008.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Enfield Baptist Church.? Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The Reverend Marc Sanders and the Reverend Ricky Sorie will be presiding.
Earl was a loving husband, daddy, and granddaddy. He had been a Christian since early in his life and was a World War II Veterans of the US Navy. Earl was a farmer all his life in Halifax County, loved fishing, and was an avid worker. He was also the last remaining member of the Masters Men of Dawson Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Earl is survived by his wife, Hallie Merritt Sorie; daughter, Brenda Somerville of Orlando, FL; sons, Rev. Ricky Sorie and wife Sandra of Nashville and Eddie Sorie and wife Millette of Rocky Mount; sister, Naomi Hux of Enfield; and four grandchildren, Ashley Cannon and husband Dash, Tyler Sorie, Blake Sorie and wife Kelly, and Dan-Michael Sorie.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Enfield Baptist Church, 200 West Burnette Avenue, Enfield, NC 27823.
