Edwin Darrell Fleming age 82 of Enfield died peacefully at his home, on July 14, 2016.

He was born in Halifax County on February 14, 1934 to Morton and Eva Ennis Fleming. Mr. Fleming graduated from North Carolina State with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree.  He served his country with the US Army.  When he returned home he began farming with his brother. This became his lifelong career for some forty years until retirement.  While farming he was honored and received numerous agriculture awards. He was a member and deacon of the Enfield Baptist Church. Following retirement Mr. Fleming enjoyed making sausage. He loved sharing his sausage with all his friends and family.  He also had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing with his Enfield Currituck Fishing Club.

He was preceded in death by mother, Eva Ennis Fleming, father, Morton Hunter Fleming, brother, James Hunter Fleming, Sr. and sister, Laura Fleming Hux.

Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Edna Cotten Fleming of the home.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Enfield Baptist Church with funeral services following at 4:00, at the church, with Rev. Kerry Peeler officiating.

The interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, NC.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Enfield Baptist Church, 200 West Burnette Avenue, Enfield, NC 27823.

Edna,so sorry to hear that Darrll past away.i know this late,but we found out from bill Leonhorth,he was visiting my sister judy Lloyd at Maine.Our prayers go out to you

Edna, I just learned of Darrell’s passing. I have enjoyed visiting with both of you over the years. He will be missed.
