AHOSKIE, NC- Elizabeth Futrell Evans, age 71, of Ahoskie, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
Elizabeth was born on May 3, 1949 to Alvah and Mary Duke Futrell in Woodland, NC. Elizabeth worked as a waitress for many years and enjoyed serving her customers. Mrs. Evans loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed fishing and riding on the boat. Her favorite past time was watching her grandkids play ball, traveling any chance she got and cooking for her friends and family. Mrs. Evans was the most giving person, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger Evans, a brother, Joseph Futrell, and a sister, Joyce Myers.
Left to cherish Elizabeth’s memory is her daughter, Mary Ann Evans of Ahoskie; and her son, Mike Evans and wife Tammy of Murfreesboro; three grandsons, Chase Evans of Murfreesboro, Chris Jernigan of Ahoskie and Carlos Esquivel of Ahoskie; one granddaughter, Melissa Jernigan of Windsor; and three great-grandsons, Zachary Jernigan, Brody Jernigan and Harlen Saturday.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Center Grove Baptist Church, Ahoskie, NC with Reverend Roger Kiker officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.
