AULANDER, NC – Elizabeth “Liz” Williams Farmer, age 84, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Farmer was born on February 25, 1934 to Leroy and Elma Odom Williams in Bertie County, NC. Liz was a sweet gentle lady that was an awesome caregiver and will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She was always doing what she could for everyone. Liz worked as a teacher’s aide for Aulander Elementary School for many years, always making sure the children were taken care of. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister that loved her family dearly, enjoying getting them all together for a time of food, fellowship, and laughter as often as she could. Liz enjoyed cooking, her church, her family, her friends, and missed the love of her life deeply, now my friends it is “POOKY”, HERE COMES LIZ”

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Cola “Pooky” Farmer, Jr., a daughter, Donna Farmer Hoggard, her sister, Pearl Dunlow, and two brothers, John Quincy Williams, and Leroy Williams.

Liz is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Farmer Medlin and husband Edward L. of Murfreesboro, Denise Farmer Skeens and husband Dennis of Aulander, son-in-law, Cameron M. Hoggard, Jr. of Aulander, NC; grandson, Cameron M. Hoggard, III of Greenville; granddaughter, Leslee M. Sumner and husband Christopher of Murfreesboro; great-grandson, Cashton L. Sumner, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.

An interment service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 10:30 am at Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC with a celebration of life memorial service to follow at 11:00 am at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Aulander, NC, with Rev. Greg Hurdle and Rev. Allen Mizelle, officiating.
