Ella Virginia “Jenny” Braddy

Ella Virginia “Jenny” Braddy, age 85, of Hobgood, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Jenny was born in Martin County, NC on April 21, 1936 to the late Charlie Lawrence Bowers and Ella Rogers Bowers. She was a loyal member of Hobgood Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hobgood since the age of fourteen. Jenny loved her church and was very faithful to her Lord. She was married to Alton Linward Braddy, Sr. and they enjoyed sixty-six years of marriage. Jenny loved music and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She worked in the local textile mills as a supervisor for forty plus years, retiring in 1994. Jenny was a kind and loving woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Linward Alton Braddy, Sr; her sisters, Hazel Bowers Braddy, Pat Bowers Hunt, and Joyce Bowers Sorie; her brother, Ernest Bowers; and her step-great grandson, Christian Swartzfager.

Jenny is survived by her son, Linward Alton Braddy, Jr. and wife Kay of Sims; her sister, Faye Bowers Parrish of Tarboro; her grandsons, Jackie Braddy and wife Kelsey of Roanoke Rapids and Chad Braddy and wife Heather of Sims; her great-grandsons, Collan Braddy and wife Heather of Wilson, Will Braddy of Buies Creek, Kyler Rogers of Roanoke Rapids, Parker Braddy of Sims, and Hunter Braddy of Roanoke Rapids; her great-granddaughters, Paeton Braddy of Sims and Kinslee Braddy of Sims; her great-great-grandson, Stetson Braddy of Wilson; her great-great-granddaughter, Dalia Braddy of Wilson; her step-granddaughters, Shay Jackson Peele and husband Chris of Wilson and Brooke Best and husband Mike of Lucama; her step-grandson, Brandon Jackson and girlfriend Brandy of Mars Hill; her step-great-grandson, Skyler Jackson of Wilson; and her step-great granddaughters, Elizabeth Swartzfager of Lucama and Kaitlyn Swartzfager of Lucama.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Hobgood Cemetery in Hobgood, with Rev. Dwight Jones presiding.
