Ellis Martin Cullifer, 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife, Myerl Medford Cullifer; his daughter, Denise Cullifer Rohman and husband Jeff of Limestone, TN; his son, Sean Cullifer and wife Julie of Williamsburg, VA; his sisters, Mona Conkle and husband Doug of Chesapeake, VA; and Lynne Carr and husband Joe of Virginia Beach, VA. He was surrounded by the joy and laughter of his five grandchildren, Emily Rohman, Katie Rohman, Christopher Cullifer, Ryan Cullifer, and Nicole Cullifer. He is preceded in death by his parents Jake and Mattie Cullifer, and his brother, Roland Cullifer.

Ellis proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1983. In 1984 he began his federal service career with the TRADOC Management Engineer Activity, Fort Eustis as a Management Analyst Team Leader for five years. In 1989 he accepted a Management Analyst position with TRADOC DCSRM and later in 1993 served as an Information Technology Specialist for TRADOC DCSIM. He retired from civil service in 2005 and worked for 10 years as a consultant with Signal Solutions, Inc., which allowed him to continue working throughout the world. He was currently working as a substitute school teacher and served the Eason Tiney American Legion Post 19 as the 2nd Vice Commander.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Victory Praise and Worship Center in Scotland Neck, NC. Interment will follow at Hobgood Cemetery. Pastor Jay Weaver and the Reverend Aubrey Spear will be presiding.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Victory Praise and Worship Center, PO Box 491, Scotland Neck, NC 27874, or the American Legion Post, PO Box 1562, Tarboro, NC 27886.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
