Emily Marie Roebuck Hall Averett, 82, joined the angels in heaven on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Oak City Cemetery in Oak City. The Reverend Robert Forehand will be presiding.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
Emily was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She was born on October 26, 1931 in Martin County to the late Jasper R. and Alice Stuart Johnson Roebuck. Emily graduated from Scotland Neck High School in 1951 and moved to Greenville. She was married in 1956 in Omaha, NE to Elroy K. Hall, and they had two daughters. The Halls then lived in Greenville, where she was employed by East Carolina University for more than 30 years. After retirement, she worked part time at ECU. In 1981 she married Allen M. Averett of Scotland Neck. Emily enjoyed the beauty of North Carolina’s beaches and mountains. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and gave out pocket angels to people she met.
Emily was preceded in death by her husbands, Elroy K. Hall in 2012 and Allen M. Averett in 2004.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy H. Tripp and husband Jim of Greenville and Linda Lee Hall of Richmond, VA; her brother, Bobby Roebuck and wife Evelyn of Tarboro; and her nephews, Bobby Roebuck, Jr. and Richard Roebuck.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
