TARBORO, NC- Esther Louise Williams Grimes, age 67, of Tarboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital.
Esther was born on February 12, 1954 to the late James and Mary Barnes Williams in Edgecombe County, NC. Esther was a devoted member at Victory Praise Worship Center and attended church every Sunday until her health no longer permitted. Even though she couldn’t be in church, she still read the Bible every day and even listened to audio versions of the Bible on days when she did not feel like reading. Esther deeply loved her husband Billy and her family and it was jokingly said that “She loved to tell Billy what to do!”. Her children and her grandchildren brought her so much joy especially her great-granddaughter Erin. Esther was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Along with her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Ann Flores, her sister, Terry Ann Williams, her grandson, Johnathon Flores, and her brother, James Allen Williams.
Esther is survived by her husband William “Billy” Grimes, daughter, Nannie “Nan” Webb of Scotland Neck; son, Larry Webb, Jr. of Tarboro; two step-daughters, Samantha Faye Grimes of Rocky Mount and Cynthia Lynn Grimes of Scotland Neck; sister, Lena Gail Morton and husband David of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Robert Lee Williams of Murfreesboro, TN; son-in-law, Miguel Garcia of Tarboro; special friend of many years, Marie Harper; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 30, 2021, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service.
