Eugenia Pope “Gene” Oakley, 83, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
Gene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a retired City Clerk for the City of Weldon.
Gene was preceded in death by her husbands, James Vivian Pope and Samuel Watkins Oakley; her son, James Tillery Pope; and her daughter, Virginia Pope “Jenny” Hux.
She is survived by her daughters, Jackie P. Clarke and husband Keith of Enfield and Mary Vivian Pope of Jackson; son-in-law, Ricky C. Hux of Scotland Neck; eight grandchildren, Chris Clarke, Brandon Clarke, Will Clarke, Mary Caroline Bain, James Raleigh Bain, Nikki Hux, Leigh Butler, and Bethany Hux; and five great-grandchildren, Elizah Grace Byrd Hux, Hannah Faith Hux, Jennifer Kailyn Tutor, Summer Leigh Butler, and Caleb Clarke.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 at Letchworth Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the home of Jackie and Keith Clarke, 170 Randolph Pines Road, Enfield.
