AHOSKIE, NC: Mrs. Evelyn Lewis Dail, age 85, of Ahoskie, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
Mrs. Dail was born in Vanceboro, Craven County, NC, on October 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Alfred and Pearlie Manning Lewis. Evelyn was retired as an Assembly Worker for Lipton Tea Co. She was a member of Ahoskie Free Will Baptist Church and as long as her health permitted, was very active in the Senior Citizens’ Group.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Daniel ‘Pappy’ Dail, and brother, Thomas Earl Lewis.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Sue Dail Pittman and husband Earl of West Palm Beach, FL, Ellen Dail Johnson of Nashville, TN, and Jean Dail Jones and husband, Wesley of Winton, NC; two granddaughters, Charlene Munna and husband Daniel of West Palm Beach, FL, and Christie Kaelin and husband, Al of Bowling Green, KY; a grandson, Cory Brandon and wife, Jill of Nashville, TN; and six great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2014, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11:00 am at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Dr. Jeff Cockrell, officiating.
