Lois Frances Galloway Edwards, 89, of Pendleton, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 28, 2023.

She was born on July 5, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Cliff and Edna Tillery Galloway. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George Parker Edwards, and sisters, Estelle Vann, Ellen Vann, Marie Francis, and brother, Leon Galloway.

She graduated from Louise Obici Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Suffolk, Virginia, in 1955 where she played and later coached the nurse’s basketball team. As a Registered Nurse, she worked for Louise Obici Memorial Hospital for over 40 years with the majority of that time serving as the Operating Room Supervisor. She was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Western Branch Baptist Church while living in Suffolk, Virginia and Roberts Chapel Baptist Church while living in Pendleton, North Carolina. She loved being a nurse and after retiring continued to help the community by organizing Red Cross Blood Drives. Frances learned the family art of basket making from her cousin Clarice Galloway and taught basket making classes at the Murfreesboro Public Library.

She is survived by her two daughters, Georgia Frances Edwards Williams (Phil) of Pendleton, NC, Mary Lois Edwards Bunch (Jeff) of Suffolk, VA; four grandchildren, Lucas Williams (Emma), Parker Williams, Ethan Bunch, and Elizabeth Bunch; one great grandson, George Williams; and one sister-in-law Sonnie Galloway of Creeksville, NC along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church of Pendleton, North Carolina on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, and the family will receive friends after the graveside service at the cemetery.
