HOBGOOD, NC – Frances Bueno Leggett, lovingly known as Grandma, peacefully passed away on November 5, 2023, at the age of 74. She was born on August 13, 1949 in Virginia to Alfred and Mary Hardy Bueno.

Frances graduated from Oak City High School and completed her education at Mount Olive College. She married her love, Buddy Leggett on July 7, 1981. She had a diverse work experience, including clerical work for many years and providing childcare. However, her true joy came from her family and her interests. She found solace in reading, especially the Bible, and enjoyed spending her leisure time watching Hallmark Channel, CSI, and her beloved soap operas. Frances also cherished moments spent sitting on the back porch, appreciating the simple pleasures of life.

A faithful member of Hobgood Methodist Church, Frances found comfort and strength in her faith. She held her church community close to her heart and was an active participant as her health allowed. Frances will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering faith, and her love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, but her memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Frances is preceded in death by her father, Alfred Bueno, her mother, Mary Hardy Bueno Worsley, her daughter, Tracy Walters, her sister, Norma Lynch, and her brother-in-law, Virgil Leggett.

She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her husband, Buddy Leggett of Hobgood; her daughter, Mary (Blake Hinton) Leggett of Hobgood;  her son, Matthew Leggett of Apex; three granddaughters, Elainie Leggett, Katie Leggett, and Felix Leggett; a grandson, Scheyer Leggett; a brother-in-law, Roy Lynch; a nephew, Chris Lynch; four sisters-in-law, Sallie (Mike) Smith, Peggy Harrington, Becky (Donovan) Hardy, Betty (Tom) Brandon, and Angie Leggett; as well as loving friends, Pam Davis, Barbara and WR House; and her beloved fur baby, Skip who spent most of his time at Frances’ feet.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Hobgood Methodist Church. Following the service, Frances will be laid to rest at Hobgood Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. Reverend Ron Elkins will officiate the services.
