Frank Whitaker, age 92, of Aulander, passed away on September 30, 2014 at the Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation-Nansemond Pointe of Suffolk, VA
Mr. Whitaker was born on September 21, 1922 to the late John Will and Della Williford Whitaker in Bertie County, NC. Frank was retired as a refrigeration mechanic, owning and operating Whitaker’s Refrigeration serving the surrounding communities for over fifty years. He was a past Deacon and member of Connaritsa Baptist Church and an Army veteran, serving in World War II. Mr. Whitaker loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Parker Whitaker, and sisters, Katherine Johnson, and Pauline Darden, and brother, Robert Whitaker.
Frank is survived by his two sons, Carl E. Whitaker and wife, Carol, of Suffolk, VA, and Larry W. Whitaker and wife, Barbara of Raleigh, NC; two granddaughters, Debora W. Brown and husband, Thomas Jonathan, and Amy W. Scott and husband, Robert; two grandsons, Bradley W. Whitaker and wife, Patricia, Derek K. Whitaker and wife, Stephanie, great grandsons, Thomas Jonathan Brown, Jr., Hunter Brown, Chandler Scott, and Tyson Whitaker; great granddaughters, Elle Brown, Madison Scott, and Peyton Whitaker; and a sister, Ercell Truitt of Potecasi, NC .
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at, 2:00 PM, at the Connaritsa Baptist Church, Aulander, NC, with the Rev. Jimmy Smith and the Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
