She was born on January 26, 1938 to Bandy and Lucy Morgan Williams in Marion, NC. Gail was the first person to be awarded a high school diploma in the local Industrial Education Center program. Gail was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Williams; her father, Harold Bandy Williams; and her husband, Billy Poteat.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Poteat Acree and her husband Garry of Windsor, VA; and two grandsons, Jonathan Acree and his wife Molly of Chesapeake, VA and Tyler Acree of Hampton, VA.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Letchworth Chapel in Scotland Neck. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with Rev. Matt Jones officiating.

What a joyful soul she was. Kind, always smiling and full of the SPIRIT. She and her husband were such a beautiful blessing to our community and I will always be grateful for them both.
