Lillian Gayle Williams Stancil, age 62 died at her home in Rich Square in Saturday, December 08, 2012. She graduated from Northampton East High School. Following graduation she attended UNC in Chapel Hill and graduated from LSU in Louisiana with a Batchelor of Arts Degree. She loved the arts and specialized in the designed and construction of the mask used for Madi Gras. Due to her illness it became necessary for her to move back to Rich Square to live with her sister.
Preceding her in death are her mother and father, Mildred Evans Williams and Oscar Williams.
Survivors include her sister, Ruth W. Lassiter and her husband David of Rich Square, NC and her brother, Shelton Williams and his wife Wanda of Belhaven, NC. She is also survived by three nieces, one nephew, two great nieces and two great nephews.
I am so sorry to hear of Gayle’s death. I did not know she had been sick. I remember Gayle as such a vibrant person. Ruth, Shelton and the entire family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Gayle was always a bright light in our class. Although I have not seen her in years , I will miss her force in this world. Rest in peace dear friend.God be with her family.
