George Charles Walton Cesil, 52 of Colerain North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Chipley, Florida doing what he loved, restoring power to those in need.
George Cesil is a fallen lineman, a hero whose life was taken while providing power for those suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. He was a man of many talents; his wife often stated, “He had more talent than any person could ever deserve.” George Cesil built or rebuilt every home his family lived in. He took great pride in the details of his work and anything he accomplished. He loved music, and, his family would say, listened to it “ear blistering loud.” He’d belt out a song line he loved everywhere he went.
George Cesil is survived by his loving wife, Janice Marie Stewart Cesil and two children, daughter Meagan Nichole Cesil, and son George Charles Walton Cesil II; his father Claude Walton Cesil and his wife Laurie Ellen Cesil and family; his mother Dianna Jean Banks; two brothers Robert Walton Cesil, Claude Marvin Cesil, and their families.
George always supported and worked harder than anyone could imagine to provide for his wife and children. He is forever a role model of a strong, hard working father, brother, friend and mentor. He will be missed so dearly by so many, and we will remember our fallen linemen forever. We remember a man who changed for the better every person he encountered. We remember a man who stood for truth and the word of God. We remember the life of George Charles Walton Cesil.
A memorial service to celebrate George’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 1:00 pm on the beautiful Chowan that he so dearly loved. Point Comfort, Point Comfort Road, Colerain, NC 27924. The family will receive friends following the service.
Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service is handling the arrangements for the Cesil family and online condolences can be directed to the family by visiting www.garrettsykesfs.com.

Like everyone else I’m shocked and deeply saddened at what happened to George and his family. Day’s later thinking about it still brings tears to my eyes and I’m not even family. All I see is his sweet baby face sitting on my couch holding hands with Janice. He got his girl all right! He spotted you and never let go. We will see him again in God’s heavenly kingdom. Hugs, prayers and tears for a tragedy that never should have happened.
So saddened and heartbroken for the loss of a brother in the Lord. His contagious smile brought radiance to people around him. George has indeed carved a niche in people’s hearts. Please know we share your grief. Sending you our thoughts, love and prayers, and may The God of All Comfort give you all that you need at this time and in the days to come. –Love in the Lord, Jeff & Andrea Greer
May God hold you and give you some comfort and peace. I am from the panhandle of Florida where your loved one came to help this community. Bo Ussery was a racers Dad along with my sons and grandson, all three men will always remain hero’s. God bless you and your family.
Janice: My heart breaks for you and your family. I have been praying for you since I heard the news and I will continue to pray for you! I’ll always remember you and George coming in the bank – his cowboy hat and big smile. He was always so proud of the work he had done on your home and would show me pictures. Wish I could have been part of the journey of your new home!! I pray God will wrap His arms around you and give you peace and comfort. Sending you love, hugs and prayers!

Remembering George and his big broad smile and cowboy hats. Thinking about the times we visited and what a gracious host he was, his workmanship in your home was amazing. Knowing he is belting out a tune in Heaven today. Love you all so much.
