Gerald Douglas Reid, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Gerald was born in Halifax County, NC on March 19, 1960 to Macon Douglas and Doris Shearin Reid.  He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.  Gerald worked as a Salesman for Adam’s Wholesale Company in Rocky Mount since 1994.  He was devoted to his family and greatly enjoyed meeting and talking to people.  Gerald’s favorite pastimes included playing golf, hunting, and fishing.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Keeter Reid; and his father, Macon Douglas Reid.

He is survived by his daughter, Macon Tyler Peace Reid of Nashville; his son, James Douglas “J.D.” Reid of Pinetops; his mother, Doris Reid of Littleton; his sister, Robin Reid West and husband Tim of Greenville; his sister -in-law, Jacque Keeter of Scotland Neck; his brother-in-law, Jim Keeter of Scotland Neck; his mother-in-law, Pat Keeter of Scotland Neck; his niece, India Silverthorne of Fort Bragg; and his nephews, Zack Keeter and Max Keeter both of Scotland Neck.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck.  The Reverend Hilton Jeffreys will be presiding.

So sorry for your families loss. We met Gerald while he was working with Adams Wholesale. He came to my dads station every week for 14 years once a week. He always had a smile on his face. Sending prayers for you all..

Johnny and I are so sorry to hear this sad news. Macon and JD our thoughts and prayers are with you. The last time I saw your Dad was at the country club. He and I sat out on the porch and talked and rocked for a long time. I will cherish this special memory. If johnny and I can do anything for you and JD please let us know. My prayer is God will give you the strength, courage and peace will will need.

Ms. Doris and Robin I’m so sorry to here the news of Gerald’s passing, i have been remembering all the things me and Gerald use to get into growing up together since i got the news yesterday
