Gordon Eugene “Gene” Harrell age 84, of Scotland Neck, passed away on August 21, 2020 at the Rich Square Manor.
Gene was born on March 9, 1936 to Gordon and Beulah Pledger Harrell. He married Nannie on June 24, 1957 and they enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage. Gene worked for many years as a hog farmer for Tony Hale Farms. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck. Gene had a tremendous love for his church and church family. He never met a stranger and dearly loved his family. Gene also loved gardening and working his flowers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Pledger Harrell, his father, Gordon Harrell, his son Jerry Harrell, and his brother, Raleigh Harrell.
Gene is survived by his wife, Nannie of the home; a son, Jeremy Harrell and his wife, Charity of Jamestown, NY; a sister, Mary “Sissy” Piland and her husband, Calvin of Sunbury, NC; two brothers, Chester Harrell and his wife, Janet of Suffolk, VA, and Danny Harrell of Panama City, FL; two granddaughters, Magan and Abby Harrell; two grandsons, Tyler Harrell and Storm Harrell; and two adopted grandsons, Billy and James Thompson.
A visitation will be held Monday, August 24, 2020, 7:00-8:00 pm at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service, Scotland Neck, NC.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck with Rev. Paul Spradley officiating. A burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
