AHOSKIE, NC- Mr. Hansel Ray, age 83, of Ahoskie, passed away on December 23, 2015 at the Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Windsor, North Carolina.

He was born on October 29, 1932 to TB and Alva Dunlow Ray in Bertie County, North Carolina. Hansel worked as a technician supervisor for the state of North Carolina for over forty years. Mr. Hansel was a lifelong trustee of Ahoskie Free Will Baptist Church, serving in any capacity that he was needed, a faithful member that visited the Church on a daily basis when his health allowed. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all that knew him.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Ray and his sisters; Sadie Flanagan and Sue Miller.

Hansel is survived by his, three sons, Thomas C. Ray and his wife Shyrel of Winton, Michael O. Ray and friend Wanda Davis of Merry Hill, and William David Ray of Selma; three grandsons, Chad and Jason Ray, both of Ahoskie, Ethan Ray of Selma; two granddaughters Gabbie Ray of Selma, and Simone Arline of Gates County.

A time to visit with the family will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm, at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, North Carolina, and other times at the home of Mr. Hansel, 407 NC 561 East, Ahoskie, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the Ahoskie Free Will Baptist Church, Ahoskie, North Carolina, with the Rev. Mike Edwards and the Rev. Phil Terry, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ahoskie Free Will Baptist Church, Building Fund, 500 Kiwanis Street, Ahoskie, NC 27910.
