JACKSON, NC – Harriet Morris Beasley, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at her home.

Mrs. Beasley was born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina on May 7, 1928 to the late Willie ‘W.P.”; Morris and Alpine “Pine” Meads Morris. The Morris family moved to Jackson when Hattie was 7 years old. Upon graduation from Jackson High School, she attended and graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh where she met the love of her life, Jim, while he was attending North Carolina State College. Once her boys started school, Hattie went to work with Northampton County Department of Social Services. She began her career as a social worker and ended it as a supervisor after 27 years. She was a devout member of Jackson United Methodist Church for the majority of her life. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and traveling. Hattie was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Jim, a son, Tommy and sisters, Goldie Morris Eley and Helen Morris Bloom.

Left to cherish her memory are four sons, Morris (Sheryl) Beasley, Lasker, NC, Joe Beasley, Jackson, NC, Nancy (Tommy) Beasley, Pendleton, NC, Jerry (Judy) Beasley, Jackson, NC, Bill (Kaye) Beasley, Currituck, NC; six granddaughters, Natalie (Andy) Woodard, Colerain, NC, Melissa (Brad) Askew, Raleigh, NC, Emily (Jason) Williams, Severn, NC, Jessica Beasley (Nick Roy), Richmond, VA, Courtney (Justin) Hill, Greenville, NC, Nicole Beasley (Brian Gunnells), Jackson, NC; five grandsons, Brian (Adrienne) Beasley, Camden, NC, Nathan (Anna) Beasley, Clayton, NC, Zack Beasley, Moyock NC, Austin (Ruby) Beasley, Maple, NC, and Will (Sarah) Beasley, Richmond, VA; as well as fifteen great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Edna Chappell of Clinton, MD. The family would also like to thank Hattie’s caregivers, Laverne, Denise, Earline, Clara Mae and
Shirlene.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at the Jackson Community Church Social Hall, Jackson, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11:00 am at Jackson Community Church, Jackson, NC with Rev. Randy Crowder officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery.
